College Tip #144

Do not over schedule your kids over Thanksgiving.

They love you, but they are exhausted. They need to see their friends. They need to see their significant other. They need to work. They need space to just decompress. And yes, they want to spend time with you, and they're going to spend time with you, and of course you should.

But before you make assumptions and get tickets for the Nutcracker and holiday lights or whatever it is you do for the holidays, check in with them. Find out their plans, you can share your plans, and if they can't do all the things you plan, please don't have hurt feelings. They love you and care about you, they just need time to just exhale and decompress.
