Federal Student Loan Interest Rates Set to Rise
image by flickr user FutUndBeidl (cc license) As we covered last summer, Congress passed into law student loan reforms that temporarily reduced student loan interest rates. However, as part of those reforms, the federal student loan interest rate, based on auction levels of Treasury 10-year notes, is allowed to float up to a capped percentage. This week, it appears that the first such increase is set to take effect on July 1, affecting all federal loans disbursed for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Huffington Post: At Least 32 Additional Investigations For Possible Title IX Violations
department of education logo, screenshot Last Thursday, we wrote about the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights disclosure that 55 schools were under investigation for possible Title IX violations. The specific focus of thse violations was possible college mishandling and/or misreporting of sexual assaults. Now, however, the Department of Education has confirmed to Huffington Post that 32 additional Title IX investigations are underway.
